More Than A Million Dollars For Local Food Programs

State grant funds are coming to the Cape and Islands in the fight against hunger.

More than one-point-five million dollars comes through the Food Security Infrastructure Grant Program, by way of the state Department of Agricultural Resources.

The funding will go to farmers and seafood producers, to provide healthy food and sustainable infrastructure.

Local grants include the Island Grown Initiative on Martha’s Vineyard, Barnstable Seafood Company, Cape Cod Cranberries and the Lower Cape Outreach Council.

Over 22 million dollars is being awarded statewide.
