Beginning today the lower parking lot at Sandy Neck Beach in Barnstable will be closed as construction gets underway on a long-term coastal resiliency project.
Part of the upper parking lot near the bathhouse will also be blocked off during the construction hours of 7 a.m. until 4 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, and the bathhouse will also be closed.
After the work hours, the upper lot and bathhouse will be open. The town says the off-road vehicle entrance trail, marsh trail and gatehouse will remain open during the first phase.
The project is expected to be completed by the summer of 2026.
