Truro Awarded Municipal Vulnerability Preparedness Action Grant

The Town of Truro has been awarded a Municipal Vulnerability Preparedness Action grant from the Healey-Driscoll Administration.

The 257-thousand-500-dollars in funding will be used to create a Resilience Hub that will serve as a shelter with solar power and batteries for emergencies and everyday resources in non-emergency times.

Truro will be holding an engagement process through the spring of 2026 to identify needs like community food resources, improved access to healthcare, childcare, laundry services, and more.

Climate Action Coordinator Chris Palmer says the Outer Cape is vulnerable to emergencies like a hurricane that could cut off electricity and access to emergency services and food deliveries.

Palmer says Truro is planning ahead by building a resilience hub that will provide emergency support and benefit the community year-round.
