The Barnstable County Department of Health and Environment is offering free water quality testing for private well owners across Cape Cod.
This testing will assess well water for a wide range of potential contaminants, including PFAS, volatile organic compounds and other pollutants that could impact health and water quality.
Private wells serve nearly 20 percent of Cape Cod households and unlike public water systems, they are not routinely monitored for safety.
Residents who rely on private wells are encouraged to apply for the free testing.
