Citizen Groups Blame Steamship Authority For Traffic Congestion

The Steamship Authority Citizens' Action Group and Southeast Massachusetts Regional Transportation Citizens Task Force are blaming Steamship Authority management for traffic gridlock.

They recently sent a letter of demands to the Woods Hole, Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket Steamship Authority board regarding the congestion.

The groups say Steamship Authority mismanagement has created hazards in their communities.

They say the major backup is on Woods Hole Road, which is used by shuttle buses, vehicles going on the ferry along with freight and trash trucks.

In addition, some parking is unavailable because of construction equipment being used for two new terminal buildings.
