Fireworks Explode During Setup At New Seabury Country Club In Mashpee

Fireworks exploded as they were being set up for the annual Fourth of July show at the New Seabury Country Club in Mashpee.

Emergency personnel responded at around 4:40 Wednesday afternoon and eight people were evaluated by medical teams.

One person suffered serious, but non-life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to Rhode Island Hospital.

A second person was taken to Falmouth Hospital with minor injuries. Multiple agencies were called to the scene of the explosion including Mashpee Fire and Rescue, Massachusetts State Police, the State Fire Marshal's Office and the FBI Bomb Squad.

The incident is under active investigation.
