The Town of Chatham has posted a cyanobacteria advisory at Stillwater Pond.
The advisory comes after the Association to Preserve Cape Cod reported a visible algal bloom and scum in the pond which could mean an increased risk of elevated toxin levels.
The conditions may pose lower health risks for adults, but children or pets may become ill if contaminated water is ingested.
People or pets that experience adverse health effects after being exposed to the pond water should contact the Chatham Health Division.
