Former Mashpee Town Employee Files Discrimination Complaint

A former town employee is filing a racial discrimination complaint against Mashpee.

The former secretary for the town manager, Stephanie Coleman, filed the complaint in March, claiming that she was underpaid compared to a white co-worker and says the town retaliated against her for speaking openly about wages.

The 39-year-old Coleman identifies as Wampanoag and African American.

Mashpee officials say the town strongly denies the allegations, adding that Coleman's complaint is riddled with inaccuracies.

A hearing on the matter is set for August 6th.
