David Barbo, Barbo's Furniture

David Barbo, owner of Barbo’s Furniture, was born into the furniture business. After graduating from the University of Massachusetts in 1976 with a degree in Management and Marketing, David joined the family business. Along with his four sons, who are now in the business, David continues making Barbo’s what it is today…. a leader in the evolving furniture industry.

Barbo’s Furniture started as upholstery manufacturers, supplying furniture to other retailers. The six brothers and three sisters were all involved in the family business. In 1947, they opened their own retail store in Stoneham Massachusetts. Later a second location was opened in Dedham, Massachusetts.  It was Al Barbo, David’s father and the youngest of all the nine children, who brought the company to Cape Cod in 1971 with the purchase of an existing furniture store in Dennisport. The Falmouth store was purchased in 1985.

Barbo’s Furniture has received the New England Retailer of the Year award and was voted Top Dealer in the Nation by one of their major manufacturers. Cape Cod residents have consistently voted Barbo’s number one furniture store on Cape Cod.

Barbo’s supports the Dennis and Yarmouth town recreation sport team programs and also the Cape Cod Hospital.

When David is not at either one of the stores, you will likely find him with his three grandchildren, on the golf course, in his woodworking shop or in Venice, Florida where he and his wife spend the winters.
