Cape Priest Due In Court Following DUI Charge

A Cape Cod priest is due in court tomorrow as his DUI case advances.

Christopher Hughes is slated to appear for a pre-trial conference after he pleaded not guilty during his arraignment last month.

Hughes drove his car into a homeowner's fence on Route 6A in Yarmouth April 25th and told cops he accidentally swerved off the road while trying to answer a phone call.

He was given a field sobriety test but initially refused to take a breathalyzer test.

Hughes is the parochial vicar at Diocese of Fall River parishes in Centerville and Osterville and serves as chaplain at a Catholic school in Hyannis.
