Mutual Aid Partners Assist With Mashpee Brush Fire

The Mashpee Fire Department received assistance from several mutual aid partners to put out a brush fire on Sunday.

The fire broke out in a wooded area near the Rod and Gun Club shortly after noon on Sunday.

The fire was close to some houses, but no injuries or structure damage was reported.

Forestry units from Sandwich, Joint Base Cape Cod, West Barnstable, and the Department of Conservation and Recreation responded to assist Mashpee fire crews. Officials say the half-acre blaze was extinguished and controlled by later in the afternoon.

There is no word on the cause of the fire.
