Cases Of Pertussis Rise To Pre-Pandemic Numbers

Pertussis cases on Cape Cod have reached pre-pandemic levels.

Yearly cases of the contagious, bacterial respiratory infections dropped to one or fewer during the pandemic because of masking and remote work, but so far this year there have been ten cases on Cape Cod.

Health officials say vaccinations are the best way to prevent getting sick with whooping cough and residents can call the Barnstable County Public Health Nursing Program to schedule an appointment.
