Dennis One Step Closer To New Waste Water Treatment Plant

Voters in Dennis have approved Phase One of a wastewater treatment plan.

By unanimous vote, more than 400 residents gave the go-ahead to the 248-million-dollar project.

This includes the design, permit process and construction of the plant along Theophilus F. Smith Road.

Action now, officials noted would allow Dennis to qualify for 100 million dollars of interest-free financing through the Massachusetts Clean Water Trust.

Wastewater plans are mandated for all Cape communities by state law. The next step is passage of a Proposition 2-1/2 debt exclusion at the town election on October 8th.
