The Clean Water Center at the Massachusetts Alternative Septic System Test Center in Sandwich has received nearly two-million dollars to advance wastewater research.
The state grant will be used to increase wastewater research and address micro-plastic pollution.
Barnstable County will match the state funding with one-point-three-million-dollars in funding from the American Rescue Plan Act.
Barnstable County Commissioner Ronald Bergstrom says in addition to improving the environment, expanding the Center will create a hub that will attract businesses, talent, and capital to the region.
