Yarmouth Police Arrest Suspect In Attempted Child Sex Assault

A South Yarmouth man has been arrested for the attempted sexual assault of a child at Peter Homer Park Tuesday night.

Police say 27-year-old Ryan Evans allegedly lured a five-year-old to an area behind the restrooms, but the child screamed and Evans took off.

According to a statement, "The Yarmouth Police are familiar with Evans and had dealings with him in the past. In 2021, the Yarmouth Police charged Evans with Unarmed Burglary and Assault, Assault to Rape a Child, Assault and Battery, Destruction of Property and Larceny."

Just before 7:00 yesterday evening police arrested Evans during a vehicle stop and he is scheduled to be arraigned today in Barnstable District Court.
