A stretch of extremely hot weather is expected to begin today throughout the region.
The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory beginning at noon today and running until at least seven p.m. on Friday.
The heat index is expected to be over 100 degrees each of the next four days, with temperatures in the 90s paired with high humidity.
People are encouraged by the weather service to drink plenty of fluids, stay out of the sun and remain in air conditioning to beat the heat.
