Juneteenth celebrations will be taking place across the Cape on Wednesday.
The June 19th holiday will be celebrated at the Aptuxcet Trading Post Museum in Bourne with a family picnic and reading of the 1852 Frederick Douglass speech "What to the Slave is the Fourth of July?"
In Barnstable, a celebration will take place in the courtyard of the John F. Kennedy Hyannis Museum on Main Street.
Falmouth will hold several events throughout the day including a community celebration in its great hall on Main Street and a screening of "The Color Purple" at the Woods Hole Public Library
