Agreement Reached For Marijuana Industry On Cape

There is a deal to keep the cannabis industry alive on Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket.

Cannabis owners had been concerned for months about being forced out of business because of dwindling supplies because under law it was illegal to transport the supplies over water.

Island Time Dispensary on Martha’s Vineyard had to close its doors because there was no product available.

Under the agreement by the Cannanis Control Commission, the marijuana products will be able to be shipped across state-controlled waterways to treatment centers on the Island.

Federal law had barred the product from being shipped via water or air.

Officials say approved vessels will have to follow specific routes in order to avoid federal waters and federal laws.
