The Barnstable Police Department collected hundreds of pounds of unwanted prescription drugs as part of Saturday's in the 26th Medication Take Back Day.
Police say over a six-month period, they took in more than 536-pounds of pharmaceutical controlled substances and other medications.
Officials say the benefits of dropping off unwanted medications removes potentially dangerous drugs from the home and keeps the medications from being flushed down the toilet or drain.
Police remind residents there is a collection kiosk available in the lobby for medication drop-offs 24-7.
