Fifth Barnstable District State Representative Steven Xiarhos is pushing back against the idea of using tolls to help fund the rebuilds of the Cape bridges.
The Democrat said he was outright opposed to charging tolls to cross the Bourne and Sagamore bridges, saying it amounts to a new tax on C-and-I families and visitors.
The outcry comes after state leaders recently said that tolls could potentially be considered if the bankroll for the project comes up short of the four-billion-dollars needed.
