Falmouth Schools Turn To Composting

All seven public schools in the Falmouth district will undertake composting.

The district joins other schools to keep food waste out of trash, with Falmouth High, Lawrence, and Teaticket Schools beginning this month.

The rest will follow in May. Black Earth will collect the food waste and move it to a site off the Cape.

Officials say 26 tons of waste have been kept out of landfills, equating to nearly 17 tons of carbon emissions that will not go into the atmosphere.
