Retired state trooper Perry Mendes of Wareham has pleaded not guilty to charges tied to a scheme involving commercial driver's licenses.
Mendes is charged with conspiracy to commit extortion and falsification of records in federal court in Boston.
Mendes becomes the sixth person to plead not guilty in the ongoing investigation into an alleged conspiracy.
The troopers are accused of taking bribes to approve commercial driver's licenses after applicants failed their tests.
