Barnstable is looking for a new police chief.
Officials recently announced a search would begin to replace former Chief Matthew Sonnabend, who retired last month.
Sonnabend served 26 years with the police agency and led the department since 2018.
Deputy Chief Jean Challies will serve as provisional chief until a permanent replacement is found-Challies has not indicated whether she will seek the top post.
