Senators Concede Bridge Funding Jammed Up By Lack Of Budget

Federal funding to aid in the replacement of the Bourne and Sagamore bridges remains held up due to a lack of a budget agreement in Washington.

Massachusetts Senators Elizabeth Warren and Ed Markey say they have written the leaders of a subcommittee that oversees bridge funding, to ensure the 350-million dollars noted in President Biden's budget plan remains in the document.

The Bay State is also waiting to learn if the state will receive a Federal Highway Administration grant of more than 1-billion dollars toward the cost of replacing the aging bridges.

The total estimated expense of replace both spans is 4-point-5-billion dollars.
