The White House overnight announced that over 370 million dollars is going to Cape Cod to replace the Sagamore Bridge.
It has been a marathon effort by state and local officials to find the four billion dollars to rebuild and replace the Bourne and the Sagamore Bridges.
The Department of Transportation had nixed a plan to cover almost half the costs.
Congressman Bill Keating says that means the state has secured more than half the money for the overall project, which is a major requirement for landing a billion-dollar federal grant for which the state and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers have applied.
