New Coach: "I'm Not Bill"

A new chapter began in New England on Wednesday.

The Patriots officially introduced Jerod Mayo as the 15th head coach in franchise history.

Mayo was named the successor to Bill Belichick, who spent 24 seasons as head coach winning six Super Bowls with the team.

Mayo also noted that it means a lot to him that he is the first Black head coach in the history of the Patriots, saying if you don't see color, "you can't see racism."

Team owner Robert Kraft mentioned a trip he took with Mayo back in 2019 to Israel as one of the experiences that helped strengthen his convictions "about how special Jerod is as a person."
