Commissioners Support Moves Toward New Bridges

Barnstable County Commissioners have expressed support for the steps taken to eventually replace the aging Bourne and Sagamore Bridges.

Federal funding totaling 372-million-dollars was approved earlier this year, with a specific application for an additional one-billion put forward.

Board Chairman Mark Forest praised Governor Maura Healey and her administration's efforts to secure the funding.

The total cost of replacing both bridges is estimated at four-billion, with the Sagamore to be replaced first.
