Barnstable County Commissioners have adopted the Joint Base Cape Cod Master Plan, with an eye toward greater development.
The base in recent years has scaled back some of its operations and reassigned the 102nd Fighter Wing.
With the National Guard looking to make its operations more efficient, the plan hopes to develop unused, or underused parts of the land for housing and other needs.
The master plan has not been updated since 1998, and the long-range vision looks to serve both the military and civilian communities.
