Some- Not All Of The Money For Cape Bridge Project In Place

The aging Sagamore and Bourne Bridges have been confirmed for federal funds to help pay for their replacement.

Governor Maura Healey's office recently reported 372 million dollars from the Federal Multimodal Project Discretionary Grant Program has been approved.

A decision on more than 1 billion dollars from the Federal Bridge Investment Program for the project is under consideration.

Both bridges were built in 1933, and both have been classified as functionally obsolete by the Army Corps of Engineers.

The total cost to replace the spans is estimated at 4-point-5 billion dollars.
