Five million dollars in state grant funds are available for the purchase of firefighter equipment.
The Firefighter Safety Equipment Grant Program reimburses local agencies for purchasing turnout gear, fire suppression equipment, and related items.
Funding amounts are based on a community's population.
The program is supervised by the Executive Office of Public Safety and Security and the Department of Fire Services.
