A monument to honor a state trooper who died in the line of duty was dedicated Wednesday.
The ceremony at the State Police barracks on Route 28 in South Yarmouth honors Trooper Ellen Engelhardt.
A 22-year veteran of the agency, the 50-year-old Engelhardt was investigating an accident scene in Wareham on July 26th, 2003, when her cruiser was hit from behind in the breakdown lane on Route 25.
She suffered massive trauma from which she never recovered-she died on June 1st, 2011. The monument rests in front of the barracks.
