Next stop- the town meeting in November for a new by-law which would bar cannabis operations in the Buzzard’s Bay Business District.
The Planning Board approved the measure on a seven to one vote last month, setting up the potential voter approval.
The proposal calls for about a mile of the area off of Main Street between Head of the Bay and the Old Bridge Roads.
The by-law allows for two medical marijuana facilities, which are legal under state law.
Recreational pot has been voted down by residents several times over the last several years.
In addition to the zoning by-law, a separate but related by-law would allow for one recreational dispensary in town.
The by-law requires a two-thirds majority in order to be approved.
