Red Sox Win- Make Trade With Dodgers

The Red Sox overcame a blunder on the bases to blow out the Atlanta Braves 7-1 in Boston.

The Sox managed to hit into a triple-play to end a third inning threat as Nick Pivetta pitched five scoreless innings of relief to secure the win.

Masataka Yoshida slugged his 12th long ball of the year with a two-run shot in the bottom of the eighth.

Boston is now fourth in the AL East at 54-and-47.

Charlie Morton was charged with the loss after allowing four runs on six hits over three and two-thirds innings.

Sean Murphy drove in the only run of the game for the Braves, who lead the NL East at 64-and-35.

Before the game the Sox made some news.

The Dodgers are adding a familiar face ahead of the MLB trade deadline.

According to ESPN, Los Angeles is finalizing a trade to acquire Boston Red Sox utilityman Kike [KEE-kay] Hernandez.

In return, the Red Sox are receiving right-handers Nick Robertson and Justin Hagenman.

Hernandez is in his third season with Boston, has spent most of the year at shortstop but can play second and center as well, and is hitting .222 with six home runs and 31 RBI in 86 games.

The 31-year-old is returning to the Dodgers after playing with them from 2015 to 2020.
