Governor Maura Healey says a new affordable housing program is part of the 14-billion-dollar capital investment plan released yesterday.
The Governor was in Hyannis where she said the state is prepared to make a major investment when it comes to housing across the state.
The 97-million-dollar program seeks to rebuild the state's public housing stock through a variety of methods.
These include providing subsidies and funding local projects, with the goal of creating between 200 and 300 new affordable housing units each year.
The capital spending package allocates one and a half-billion dollars to housing initiatives over the next five years.
In addition, the Govenor said that money would be spent on Veterans Services, Seniors, Parks and Libraries statewide.
