The state's FY-24 budget is only a couple of hurdles away from final approval and that's good news for folks worried about the future of Cape Cod Bay.
An amendment backed by Plymouth and Barnstable State Senator Susan Moran included in the spending plan would prevent the Department of Environmental Protection from issuing any permit allowing wastewater from the Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station to be discharged into the bay.
The measure would stay in effect for two years while further studies into the environmental impact of the proposed dumping are conducted.
