Middleboro-based retailer Christmas Tree Shops is reportedly preparing to file for bankruptcy.
The Wall Street Journal reports that the chain has hired a law firm to prepare the chapter-eleven bankruptcy filing.
The Journal reports that the filing could come as soon as this weekend.
Christmas Tree Shops operates more than 80 stores in 20 states, with the first location opening more than a half-century ago on Cape Cod.
The chain has 15 stores in Massachusetts and 4 in New Hampshire and two in Rhode Island.
