Harwich is banning balloons.
Town meeting approved the ban of using any type of balloon with a gas that is lighter than air, including helium.
Supporters said balloons are a pollution hazard.
Failure to discard the items in the trash will result in a fine.
Town meeting also voted to ban restaurants from giving customers plastic containers.
