EPA Decision On JBCC Shooting Range Doesn't End Project

The EPA is shooting down a proposal to build a machine gun range at Joint Base Cape Cod.

The report indicates concerns over containment and the protection of the aquifer creating a major public health hazard.

Officials say they believe the move would reverse all the time, effort and money spent over the past 30 years cleaning up the military waste that had seeped into the water supply in decades prior.

Now the ruling from the EPA does not kill the project.

A sixty day public comment period and public hearing will be held before a final decision is issued.
