Governor Charlie Baker will be at the Yarmouth Police Headquarters today to sign Nero’s Bill into law.
The new law allows for medical first responders to treat and transport police K-9 partners injured in the line of duty.
The signing comes in observance of the fourth anniversary of the murder of Yarmouth Police Sergeant Sean Gannon while he was attempting to serve an arrest warrant in Marston’s Mills.
Nero was Gannon’s K-9 partner and he was shot and critically injured during the incident.
The signing will go on at noon.
