A large section of the iconic Sandwich boardwalk was ripped apart by this weekend’s massive winter storm.
Assistant Town Manager Heather Harper says there is no estimate on the damage yet, nor a timeline on when repairs can be made.
She says high tides that were trapped in the marsh the boardwalk passes through could not recede, and chunks of ice built up underneath it, ripping out the boards.
