Veterans Day Events On Cape Cod

In observance of Veterans Day, there are many events taking place here on Cape Cod.

In Bourne, the National Cemetery is adorned with about 80,000 flags that were placed this week; they will be on display until November 14th. 

In Eastham, the town’s annual veterans program will go on beginning at 7pm tonight at the Eastham United Methodist church on Route 6. 

In Falmouth, a procession will step off at 10:45am from the Falmouth green on Main Street. The procession will conclude at the Falmouth Public Library. Veterans are invited to participate; be at the Green by 10:30am. 

In Hyannis, a "Thank You" event is being held from 8:30am to 9:30am at St. Mary’s Church on Main Street. At the drive through event, vets and their families can have a flag displayed with the vet’s name. There will also be free snacks and goody bags.

Also in Hyannis, the Cape and Islands Veterans Outreach Center is hosting a free buffet Thursday at Barnstable Town Hall. The general public is invited to hear stories of some of the veterans. This event is scheduled from 11am-2pm. 

In South Dennis, the Field of Honor is on display through the 15th of the month at Johnny Kelley Park on Old Bass River Road.

Yarmouth will hold a Veterans Day service at Packet Landing on Bass River beginning at 10am.

Osterville is observing the day with a "Remembrance Walk" beginning at 11am at the Osterville Village Library on Wianno Avenue. The walk will be conducted through the village’s nine memorials to veterans.

Provincetown will hold a memorial at 11am on McMillan pier a wreath will be put out to sea in memory of all of those who served in the seagoing services. The program includes an honor guard and representatives of the Coast Guard, Provincetown Police, the VFW and the American Legion.

On Martha’s Vineyard, a ceremony in honor of veterans is taking place this morning at 11; it will be held at Ocean Park in Oak Bluffs. Also today, American Legion Post 257 is placing flags at Oak Grove cemetery. There will be no parade this year due to Covid-19.
