Senator Ed Markey is outlining how the $9 billion in federal funds from the infrastructure package will be spent in Massachusetts.
According to senator Markey, $4.2 billion will go towards road improvements, $1.1 billion for bridge replacement and repair – including the Cape Cod Canal bridge replacement projects.
$2.5 billion will go to enhancing public transit systems like the MBTA, and $244 million for airport infrastructure improvements.
The rest of that $9 billion will be slated for promoting broadband access and deploying electric vehicle charging stations.
The funding is over a five-year period.
