A lawsuit has been filed in Massachusetts challenging the mask mandate implemented by Education Commissioner Jeffrey Riley in late August.
The suit, filed by a civil rights organization based in Florida and the People’s Freedom Endeavor, which consists of over 300 parents of Massachusetts children affected.
The suit alleges that Riley does not have the authority to issue a mask mandate and that the real reason for the mandate is to encourage and incentivize students and staff to get vaccinated.
The suit was filed on Monday.
