The Environmental Protection Agency has decided to review the Massachusetts National Guard's planned machine gun range on Joint Base Cape Cod.
The EPA is looking into whether the firing range has the potential to contaminate the local water source, which is a major concern from opponents of the project.
Senators Elizabeth Warren and Ed Markey plus Congressman Bill Keating have released a statement commending the EPA's decision.
They say they are hopeful the review will provide much-needed answers to Cape Cod residents.
