The Old King's Highway Regional Historic District Committee is upholding a lower-level decision in the town of Sandwich to demolish its iconic boardwalk to Cape Cod Bay.
The Enterprise reports the vote at the hearing on Wednesday was 3-to-2 in favor of supporting the decision from the Sandwich Old King's Highway District Committee.
Most of the public comment received at the hearing was in favor of keeping the existing boardwalk, which was built in 1992.
But people with disabilities also testified in support of the plans for the new boardwalk to be more accessible.
