Crews from Air Station Cape Cod were called into action Sunday night to assist in a rescue effort off Montauk New York Sunday night.
At about 9:30, the 44 foot commercial fishing boat Nite Nurse was taking on water and sinking.
A Jayhawk from Cape Cod was dispatched and hoisted the crew of three from a life boat; they were then taken to Air Station Cape Cod for evaluation.
Coast Guard officials praised the fishermen for their professionalism during the incident.
