Starting on Monday, wildlife officials will begin distributing 68,000 oral rabies vaccine baits in Plymouth and Barnstable Counties.
USDA Wildlife Biologist Brian Bjorklund says the baits will be distributed in wooded areas and away from neighborhoods.
The vaccine distribution is part of an annual effort to keep any rabies outbreaks on mainland Massachusetts and off Cape Cod.
