A team of eight rescue swimmers from Coast Guard Air Station Cape Cod have beat the Guinness World Record for the fastest time climbing the height of Mt. Everest on a versa climber.
Public affairs officer Lt. Robert Turley says that as rescue swimmers, the team was already well-equipped for the challenge.
The team made the 5.5-mile, 29,028-foot climb in 1:26:20, crushing the previous world record set by the Royal Air Force Firefighters by nearly 30 minutes.
