Shellfish Seeds Destroyed In Chatham Vessel Strike

The Cape Cod Chronicle reports thousands of shellfish seeds were destroyed following an apparent vessel strike in Chatham.

The damaged aquaculture stock was in Mill Creek. Officials say the incident could cause an impact on the town's quahog harvest.

A barge contractor with a nearby mooring denied damaging the shellfish beds at a conservation commission hearing last month, according to the Chronicle report.

The matter is under investigation.
