A 27-year-old man from Springfield is accused of assaulting the 80-year-old owner of George's Pizza on Commercial Street over the weekend.
Prosecutors say that the incident developed when Angel Gomez wouldn't social distance inside of the eatery.
Gomez is being held in lieu of $2,500 dollars bail and will be back in court for a pretrial conference on August 4th.
